It’s like one of those old things in the back of magazines... only 99 cents per CD! Yet this was a little bit more than that....a little...a lot. God I feel old that I remember those adverts.

Lol my first 2 cars had AM radios. Once I got the 3rd car with a cassette deck, I lent all of my * vinyl* to a buddy so he could tape it for me (and himself, and he also taped his stuff for me too).
True story.

Lol I was thinking about those (Columbia House was one, and there was another one too). First 8 CDS were a penny plus shipping, then they screwed you by sending you garbage for $12.99 each for a year afterwards.
Some buddies of mine just kept registering over and over under fake names, and ignoring the bills. It worked for a long time, too.

I’m not too too old but I remember my parents looking at me like I was an idiot even thinking about it. Because there is that....”Let him learn on his own” look.

Lol yea my parents were the same way.

Better Oblivion Community Center is good stuff.

You could be like me and have the same CD stuck in the stereo for like 15 years. It’s a Minor Threat CD so I never got tired of it enough to do anything about it. At this point it would be a crime to listen to anything else in that car.

You didn't have to accept the garbage, you could mail it back and "wait for the next month." I got my 6 CDs for a penny, kept rejecting their garbage well into high school, at which point they gave up sending me their mailers. Total outlay, one penny.

What I find interesting about it is like a profile of who owned the car before me

Had no idea who they were but I am totally keeping these CD’s. They’re awesome.

So BOCC is a collaboration between Conor Oberst (the guy from Bright Eyes) and Phoebe Bridgers (who has some great solo work and is also a member of Boygenuis). Both are worth looking into if you like Better Oblivion.

I thought I had heard that voice! Classic Cars by Bright Eyes is like one of my favorite songs. I guess I’m slow on the uptake.

Classic Cars is a great song. That whole album is underrated.

Agreed! Bright Eyes is kinda (to me) the folksy Modest Mouse.
Very well thought out lyrics. Or even Minus the Bear-esque.
I really wanna meet the person who had this car before me, lol.
The car was last registered in Annapolis MD so I’m willing to bet someone in the Navy.

Yeah but you had to be more on the ball than most teenagers to stay on top of that, haha!

True! I almost had to eat one CD, but I squeaked in on that deadline.

The avalon I recently got came with a working samsung bluray player.

Wait - was there bluray music discs or does it play movies?
I don’t remember bluray in cars - must have lasted about 30 minutes as an option.

No not a bluray car player a normal one. I dont think I've seen a bluray for cars. I wish dvdr support for music discs caught on but usb drives are better anyway
